Operation 1325 filled its training “Resolution 1325 in the Field” to the brim with 24 participants at Sida Partnership Forum Dec 1-3 at SPF Härnösand.
Among the participants were personnel from different national and international agencies dealing with issues such as mine clearing, early warning conflict signs, pre-deployment trainers for personnel sent to conflict areas, and road construction.
Participants represented the Swedish Contingency Agency, the Swedish police, Folke Bernadotte Academy, OSCE and the World Bank (within Sida’s JPO-program). Civil society were represented by UNIFEM Swedish National Committee, the Swedish Ecumenical Council, the Swedish Women’s Lobby, among others.
During group work participants discussed cases taken directly from conflict areas. Participants also reviewed gender and case law, gender and rule of law, consultations with civil society in conflict areas, participants’ own prejudices and how to handle resistance to applying gender in conflict settings.
