Today Operation 1325 celebrates Valentine’s Day by sending a big bouquet of flowers to Urban Ahlin, Foreign Policy spokesperson for the Social Democrats.
We want to highlight that women’s participation in conflict negotiation was recognized as a fundamental factor in peace building and sustainable development in their shadow report on the foreign policy declaration for 2013.
In this shadow report, Urban Ahlin states that Sweden should strengthen its work towards implementing UNSCR 1325 and revise Sweden’s current National Action Plan.
Operation 1325 has long advocated for the National Action Plan to include measurable objectives, earmarked funds, timeframes, indicators, and a mechanism for reporting on its implementation. We expect that these promises will be realized and that the Social Democrats will continue working towards these goals; whether as the opposition or not.
Operation 1325 sends Valentine’s Day greetings to Urban Ahlin and his team, hoping that they will continue the imperative work of involving women in peacekeeping missions through diplomatic collaboration and joint development efforts.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
