Power to Women in Peace Processes

Women's Organisations Cooperating in Realising Resolution 1325

Good example

Even if resolution 1325 is far from realised, there are still countries and regions where women's empowerment and participation have made strides forward since the resolution's introduction. In this section, we proudly present these good examples and the differences they have made for women in their respective countries.

A Good Example - Rwanda

Rwanda is famous for being the first and only country in the world where women hold a majority of seats in parliament – 56 percent.

A Good Example - Nepal

The conflict in Nepal between Maoist guerillas and the Nepali government continued for ten years. When it ended in 2006 it had deeply affected women and girls.

A Good Example - Liberia

A majority of the Liberian women are victims of the sexual violence that was committed during the conflict and the perpetrators have not yet been prosecuted.
