Annual meeting at Operation 1325

SoME Gavobevis 2023

29 March 2012

Yesterday, Operation 1325 had its annual meeting, where all the member organisations gathered to discuss the future project that will be run through the course of 2012. After a meeting with many discussion points and decisions, Maud Eduards finished the meeting with a presentation of action plans regarding resolution 1325 and how women’s role in peace and conflict situations are looked upon.

New member organisation

For the first time in Operation 1325’s six year long existence, a new member organisation was formally elected within the umbrella organisation. The new member is  Den nya medlemmen är Svenska Kvinnors Vänsterförbund (Swedish Women’s Left wing Association). The organisations works for example with equality in peace, a sustainable society and solidarity among different groups of society. Operation 1325 is positive towards the new addition and hopes for a successful cooperation in the future.

Talk about action plan regarding resolution 1325

After the annual meeting came to a close, Operation 1325 invited the present representatives to listen to Maud Eduards, a scientist in political science with special competence in gender and politics. She there told the organisations that the U.S recently introduced a national action plan for resolution 1325, and the different focus areasthat the action plan entails. Among other facts, Eduards lifted that a priority in the action plan is to provide women with training in equal peacebuilding. However, she also mentioned that there seems to be no plans of providing men with the same type of education, questioning the attitudes towards equality in peace from the American action plan.
