Uppsatsen A Dawn of Equality: Women in peace-building and development in Timor-Leste är skriven av Mia Phil och behandlar “kvinnors roll i fredsbyggande och politiskt beslutsfattande i Timor Leste (Östtimor), ett ungt land med en historia kantad av kolonialism, inbördeskrig och ockupation. Hur kvinnor bidragit till landets situation idag, kvinnors rätt till delaktighet i makten, samt nödvändigheten av detta ingår i undersökningen. Texten lyfter fram och analyserar anledningar till varför kvinnor bör vara inkluderade i fredsbyggande och beslutsfattande, likaväl som utmaningar som kvinnor möter för att samhället fullt ut ska kunna dra nytta av deras kapacitet. Resultatet visar att det fortfarande finns en rad patriarkala strukturer som behöver brytas ner, samtidigt som det också finns tydliga bevis på att kvinnor bidrar med perspektiv och erfarenheter som kompletterar de manliga. Detta lyfts fram i uppsatsen genom exempel på hur kvinnor har uppnått förändringar i samhällen där de intagit ledarposition och genom kvinnorörelser”.
