Very seldom are women’s perspectives heard in matters of peace and security because women are seen to have less authority and power. But sustainable solutions to conflict and crisis can only be found when a whole population is included. When all perspectives are taken into consideration then the root causes to problems can be resolved and renewed systematic oppression can be prevented. More voices heard will increase justice for all. Therefore we are pleased to share the journalist Nurcan Baysal’s writing about her home town. It is a powerful and yet poetic piece with reflections from a walk, taking in the views, the sounds and the feelings of its inhabitants.
